Dating in the Economic Depression

In my title to this article it says “Depression” and that is not a misprint. The American government would like us to believe that it is a recession but they are not living it. I know too many people who have lost their jobs in the last year and just cannot find another one. Can’t believe it? What if you lose your job, you go to apply for a job and you find out there are about five hundred to one thousand people applying for the same job. What do you think are your chances of getting that job? Well about 1000 to 1. That’s not very good odds when you have a mortgage to pay, and all the other bills you acquired while you had a good job. Most people were working the same job for ten years or more only to lose it when the economy took a dump. No one will admit that we are in a depression, yet there are thousands of foreclosures every month in the SW Florida area alone. There is no help and nothing that these people can do.
So with the economy the way it is how on earth do we go out and have fun. How do we meet new people if we can’t afford to go out all the time? There are always online dating sites, which can be enjoyable and you can meet and communicate with people from all over the country or the world. There are social networking sites to meet people and communicate with them also. You can find local meet up groups where you can get together with people with similar interests. You can discuss things or go places if you have the money.
There is nothing as bad as being alone in these times. Television can make it seem like you are not alone but it just doesn’t communicate back. At least online there are real people to communicate with, share photos, videos, and make friends with. If you simply just don’t have the money to go out on dates, then an online community can keep you connected to real people. There is a lot of online dating or networking sites that are a minimal cost compared to going out on a date to an expensive restaurant or to a bar where there are very expensive drinks. Some sites are even free. You will be connected to people from all over the world to help you forget all your troubles and maybe you will meet your soul mate. You are not just limited to people in your area. If you are from a small town, dating and social networking sites open up a whole new world of potential matches. You can form long lasting relationships whether it’s a friend or the love of your life.
The economy will get better eventually, it always does. How long no one knows. We all need to concentrate on things getting better and give less attention on how bad things are now. Maybe that will bring up the economy faster. Energy flows where attention goes.
